GUILTY!!!!..... For Liking a Post on Facebook?

On November 17, 2012, a  woman in Mumbai, India was arrested for liking a post on Facebook. The woman,  Shaheen Dhada, who wrote the original post was put under arrest as well. Shaheen "posted a controversial status update on the social media site, and her friend Renu Srinivasan clicked the "like" button."
Shaheen Dhada wrote, "Respect is earned, not given and definitely not forced. Today Mumbai shuts down due to fear and not due to respect." The post was in reference to a citywide shutdown to mourn the death of controversial leader Bal Thackeray .

Thackeray, the founder of the right wing Shiv Sena party, was mourned by the people in Mumbai . The funeral put the city in a "virtual standstill as businesses, restaurants, and taxi services shut down for the day." Shaheen Dhada, the woman who wrote the  post, said that it was wrong to have a city shut down for a person like Thackery. Consequently, she was arrested and and her friend as well for liking her post.

As I read this article I ponder how I felt about this. I wonder was it  wrong or right for these two women to get arrested. So after much pondering I came to the conclusion that I think it was right for them to get arrested. Even though the women felt that he was not a good leader they didn't have to disrespect him. Just like when former president Bush got a shoe thrown at; the attacker was put under arrest. As well as the man that shot Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Luther King. Even though saying they got arrested for a Facebook status post sounds stupid. It doesn't change the fact that it was disrespectful. We have to accept the fact that technology has become a great part of our lifes now. We should expect more things like these in the near future. For example, a Tennessee woman was arrest for "poking" someone on Facebook around three years ago. The Internet was made to benefit the human race but now its to help us and deteriorate us.

Apology to Mrs. Day

Dear Mrs. Day,

      I want to apologize for not being a good A.P. student.  I apologize for upsetting you and not meeting your standards as a student.  I realize that I have not be up to part.  I apologize for wasting your hard work you put into this class.  I promise I will not waste any more. This doesn't mean I'm quitting your class; this means I'm going to work a hundred times more harder in your class.  I want to apologize on behalf of my classmates.  I guess we never really had a teacher to really pull us to our fullest potential. I apologize for putting you in the same category as any of our other teachers.  I hope that none of my classmates drop your class because they will be missing the opportunity to learned from one of the best teachers we have ever had! I truly and sincerely apologize for making you feel like we don't care about you or our education.

To Care or Not to Care?

The Chick Fil A controversy has aroused many people; especially, the homosexual community. The controversy rose because Chick Fil A funds anti-Gay groups.  Dan Cathy, the president of  Chick Fil A, openly stepped into a "national debate".  The president's actions had consequences; offending, losing, and gaining customers.  Cathy goes on to say on a radio station, "We’re inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage. And I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude that thinks we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is all about.”  As if to say that we are trying to correct God's thinking and believe we know better than Him.

I for one have nothing against gays/lesbians.  People should be able to love or care for whom ever they like . However, my question to you (readers) why should we care for what Chick Fil A does with its money?  Shouldn't we respect their opinions just like we would like for people to respect our opinions?  Whether you support or don't support gay rights we don't question your reasons.  However, since Chick Fil A is a well know restaurant people make it a big deal. Doesn't it say in the Constitution that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  All Cathy did was express how he felt about homosexuality. He neither harmed or neglect service to homosexual, bisexual, or transgender people.  How come people don't question what churches do with their tithes? Why? I tell you why, because the church is suppose to be a place we learn moral, values, and beliefs. We would never question what is said in the bible because theses are teachings of God's son. The only exception to this statement would be atheists or un-orthodox people. So again I ask you, why should we care or not care what Chick Fil A does with its money?
